Helgeland’s exciting history and culture is also reflected in our food traditions. Throughout history a large and varied selection of fish, crustaceans and marine mammals has been used for food. In addition there is baking, dairy products and meat, which have collectively given Helgeland a culinary culture with great variation. You can enjoy culinary experiences par excellence in Helgeland at exciting farm restaurants in the inland area to culinary restaurants out on the coast.

Widerøe is the largest regional airline in Scandinavia and flies to more than 40 domestic and international destinations. You can now fly direct to Helgeland’s four largest towns, Mo i Rana, Mosjøen, Brønnøysund and Sandnessjøen, all summer long from NOK 595 one way.

Island hopping by cycle has long been a popular activity in Helgeland. A new feature this year is that we have set up several shorter cycle trips, designed as day trips to selected destinations in Helgeland. You may also combine these cycling adventures with other activities such as paddling, fishing or hiking.

The Arctic Circle is the magical boundary of the midnight sun. Visit the Arctic Circle centre as you travel through the Saltfjellet national park or alternatively cross the Arctic Circle by boat and visit the island of Vikingen.

Vega and the surrounding islands were awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2004. Bird wardens have established a unique form of cooperation with the eider ducks here, and now you too can take part.
